Jane Calvert (Innogen, Edinburgh), Ownership, Sharing and Community-Building in Synthetic Biology
Dr Jane Calvert has an undergraduate degree in Human Sciences from Sussex and an MSc in the History and Philosophy of Science from the LSE. She did her doctoral work at SPRU, University of Sussex on the idea of 'basic research'. She worked as a research fellow at SPRU, and then at the ESRC Centre for Genomics in Society (Egenis) at the University of Exeter. She started at Innogen, University of Edinburgh, in July 2007. Her broad area of research interest is in the sociology of the life sciences. She is currently studying the emergence, development and epistemic aspirations of the new fields of systems biology and synthetic biology.
